2019: YEAR IN REVIEW

After a record six exits in 2018, we spent most of 2019 growing our portfolio and firm:

  • INVESTED $50M+ OUT OF FUNDS V & VI INTO 17 COMPANIES
We partnered with three visionary founders to add their companies to the S3 family: Leo Resig (Atmosphere, Series A), Doug Donovan (Interplay Learning, Series A), and Richard Lebovitz (LeanDNA, Series B).  We also made two new seed investments (Alleviant, Solace) and led Series A rounds in two prior seeds (BrainCheck, Liveoak Technologies).  Additionally, we made several follow-on investments — including four rounds (AllStacks, Chrono, Datical, Levelset) led by out-of-state venture firms.

  • ADDED THREE NEW TEAM MEMBERS
We brought on Eric Engineer (full-time Venture Partner), Patrick Moody (Associate), and Jonathan Fine (Director of Business Development).

  • EXPANDED OUR RESOURCES FOR ENTREPRENEURS
We hosted multiple CXO summits, redesigned our website (and logo!), and kicked-off this newsletter — which will include funding announcements, portfolio news, job opportunities, and useful data/tools for entrepreneurs.

Happy New Year and we hope to see you in 2020!
